Description
Delightful caramel apple slices featuring crisp apples coated in homemade caramel, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or your preference), washed and dried
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Toppings: chopped nuts, crushed cookies, sea salt, or chocolate drizzle (optional)
Instructions
- Begin by preparing the apples. Core and slice each apple into wedges, approximately 1/4-inch thick. Arrange them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and butter. Stir continuously until the mixture melts and turns golden brown.
- Remove the pan from heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream. Continue stirring until smooth, then add the vanilla extract and salt.
- Allow the caramel to cool slightly before drizzling it over the apple slices, or dip the slices directly into the sauce.
- Add your selected toppings while the caramel is still warm for proper adhesion.
- Let the slices set for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
To prevent apples from browning, toss them in a little lemon juice. Make sure to monitor the caramel closely to avoid burning.
