Description

A vibrant and quick side dish of sautéed green peas that enhances any meal with its fresh flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen green peas
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh mint or parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Blanch the peas: Bring a pot of salted water to a rapid boil. Add the peas and allow them to boil for 2-3 minutes until tender yet bright green. If using frozen peas, add them directly to the boiling water for 2 minutes.
  2. Shock in ice water: Drain the peas immediately and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to halt the cooking process.
  3. Sauté: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once foamy, add the drained peas and sauté for 2-3 minutes until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Garnish and serve: If desired, sprinkle with freshly chopped mint or parsley before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding sautéed shallots or garlic. Drizzle with lemon juice before serving for added brightness.
